Thanks for visiting the Taft ISD Library Department website. This website provides information about all the campus libraries. The library department will focus on three areas this year: Access, Exploration and Genres.

  • Access - Provide opportunities for students to have both print and digital resources. 

  • Exploration - Freedom of choice to read what interests the students.

  • Focus on Genres - The fiction section will be organized by genres on all campus libraries.

Library Hours

We are happy to serve all our patrons.

All campus libraries are open from 7:45 am to 4:15 pm. If students need additional time after school they must make arrangements with the District Librarian.

Exploration

Find what you like to read. 

The collection on the secondary campuses has been genrified meaning that the same kind of books are placed together like in a bookstore. Stop by and browse all the new books that have been added to the collection. Don't see what you like make a recommendation.

Genres

Variety of Genres

Literary genres are divided into Fiction and Non-Fiction categories. Fiction is created from the imagination and is not real. Non-Fiction books contain facts and you learn about a variety of subjects. 


Fiction

  • Realistic - This type of fiction has fictional character but depicts real life situations. 

  • Humor - This type of fiction is meant to make its audience laugh. 

  • Scary - These books that instill fear in the reader.  

  • Supernatural - These books have made up creatures like vampires. 

  • Historical - The setting is set in the past in these books. 

  • Fantasy - These books have made up worlds and often contain magic. 

  • Romance - These types of books are often love stories. 

  • Mystery - The characters often solve a crime in these books. 

  • Science Fiction - Stories with futuristic plots.
